Description
Book of Maori songs (waiata). Called "Popular Maori Songs" and compiled and arranged by John McGregor. The songs were by Waikato Maori and were written down from memory while they were prisoners of war after they surrendered at Rangariri to General Cameron on November 23rd 1863. John McGregor was a guard for the prisoners. He published the book in February 1893.
